PostSubject: hand prints   Tue Dec 09, 2008 4:02 am

I've done this with my one year olds when teaching pre-school. It's a hand print wreath. It's as simple as tracing your childrens hand prints on a sheet of green construction paper. After you've traced a few dozen or so, cut them out. Next take a paper plate and cut out the middle. Once that's done you can glue all your "green" hand prints onto the paper plate making it look like a wreath. Afterwards you and the kids can decorate the wreath with whatever things you want. Ideas: ribbon tied into a bow, cutouts of christmas gifts, flowers...whatever you wish. It's lots of fun and looks great hanging in the front window of your house.

Another idea is this: You'll need two wooden clothes pins, pipe cleaners, glue, wiggly eyes and green or red yarn. Glue the two wooden clothes pins together (one upside down) to create reindeer legs and antlers. Allow the glue to dry then add the eyes to either side of the clothes pin used to make the antlers. After the glue has dried from this make bows with the green and red yarn. You can decide which color you want to use. Use a sharpie pen to make a nose or you can again glue a small red pompom on to make a Rudolph reindeer. Attach the pipe cleaner so you can hang the reindeer on the Christmas tree. This one takes more work but the end results are so cute and the kids love them.
